Home MenuHorn Rapids Landfill
The Horn Rapids Landfill, owned and operated by the City of Richland's Public Works Department, has been serving the community since 1974. As a municipal solid waste facility, it plays a key role in managing waste for both residents and businesses in Richland. Over the years, the landfill has evolved to meet environmental and capacity demands, including the closure of its original 46-acre section in 2011. Today, it also supports sustainability efforts through a renewable natural gas (RNG) facility, which captures and converts landfill gas into usable energy. The landfill remains a critical part of the city’s infrastructure and environmental strategy.
