License Validity

A firearms dealer license is:

• Valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance

• Not renewable

Dealers must submit a new application each year to continue operating.

Fees

The fees for licensing are as follows: 

Background Check & Fingerprinting Requirement 

All firearms dealers are required to:

• Be fingerprinted by the law enforcement agency where the application is submitted

• Complete a criminal history background check prior to license issuance

Please note:

• Fingerprinting and background checks are completed by the Richland Police Department

• Background checks may take 30–60 days to complete, depending on residency requirements

What to Bring When You Apply

Please bring all of the following items at the time of application:

1.  A valid Federal Firearms License (FFL)
   
2.  A valid Washington State business license

3.  Valid, government‑issued photo identification (e.g., Washington driver license or ID card)
4. Payment by check or credit card payable to the Richland Police Department

3. Visit the Richland Police Department to submit your application and payment in-person, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Payment can be made in-person at the police department by check or credit card. Checks can be made payable to City of Richland. Cash payments will not be accepted.
