Traffic Unit

The goal of the Richland Police Department’s Traffic Unit is to reduce the number and severity of traffic collisions, reduce reckless driving activity, and promote safe travel in the City of Richland through engineering, education, and enforcement. We are dedicated to protecting our community with proactive enforcement, thorough investigations, and public outreach.

Please see below for more information on how citizens can help promote safer roads in the City of Richland.

Radar Speed Trailers

The presence of a radar speed trailer can help reduce neighborhood speeding.  It is a proactive and inexpensive tool to help educate speeding motorists become aware of their own violations.  They have been shown to be very effective in reducing speeds in residential areas.

You can request a speed trailer in your neighborhood by emailing the traffic unit directly, by clicking the button below.  Your request must include a contact name and telephone number to arrange a schedule for installation.

Please allow up to (2) weeks for contact and installation. Speed trailers are deployed in two week increments and have an assigned waitlist.
