As a non-profit municipal electric utility, we work hard to keep our electric rates as low as possible while continuing to provide reliable service.
Current Electric Rates
Richland City Council approved an 8.5% rate increase for all customer classes (Residential, Commercial and Industrial) beginning 1/1/2026. Rates are primarily determined by wholesale power costs, which is the utility's most significant operating cost, comprising over 60% of RES' expenses.
Note: The links to "Current Electric Rates" and "Current Electric Rate Comparison" are in the process of being updated and do not reflect the 8.5% rate increase beginning 1/1/2026.
A review of a recent rate comparison will show that Richland Energy Services (RES) offers some of the lowest electric rates in Washington.
