Race day is just three weeks away! The Cuisine Solutions IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities returns Sunday, September 20, bringing athletes, families, volunteers, and spectators from near and far to Richland and the surrounding Tri-Cities.
Athletes will take on a 70.3-mile course featuring a 1.2-mile downriver swim in the Columbia River, a 56-mile bike ride through Richland, West Richland and surrounding areas, and a 13.1-mile run along the riverfront before finishing at Columbia Point Marina Park.
This year's race follows some exciting recognition for the Tri-Cities course. The event's run course was recently named the Best Run Course in the world in the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Athletes' Choice Awards, highlighting the scenic riverfront, community support, and race experience our region provides.
Plan Ahead for Race Day
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for temporary road closures, lane restrictions, parking restrictions, and delays on race day. Traffic impacts are expected primarily between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20.
Visit Tri-Cities has created a comprehensive race-day resource with interactive maps showing the bike route, traffic impact zones, expected closure times, alternate routes, and other information to help residents and businesses plan ahead.
Residents who live or travel near George Washington Way, Spengler Street, Stevens Drive, Highway 240, Keene Road, Queensgate Drive and other portions of the bike course should review the maps before race day.

Be Part of Race Weekend
IRONMAN weekend isn't just for the athletes. The community is invited to take part in several activities leading up to Sunday's race.
Party at the Point kicks off race weekend Friday, September 18, at Columbia Point Marina Park with live music, local vendors, food trucks, family activities and race weekend excitement.
On Saturday, September 19, young athletes can get in on the fun during the IRONKIDS race at Columbia Point Marina Park.
Volunteers are also an important part of making IRONMAN possible. Nearly 1,000 volunteers are needed to fill a variety of roles throughout the event.
And, of course, residents are encouraged to come out on race day and cheer! The energy and support from spectators along the course are an important part of the IRONMAN experience and another opportunity to show visitors what makes the Tri-Cities a special place.
